SSA is part of the Services Group of America family of companies that specializes in bringing top quality products and services to the entire foodservice industry.  We are growing internationally and are searching for an Export Specialist to serve as the primary link between export customers and the organization managing the entire process.


  • Responsible for assembling required documents required for exporting food and related products to foreign countries, and other countries throughout the world.

  • Communicate with customers from around the world regarding processing of orders for export from the U.S.

  • Ensure compliance with the U.S. export laws and regulations and all export approvals.

Tracking the progress of export related orders through the various stages of the order cycle process and ensuring that all required activities are completed on time.

    • Receive orders direct from customer and evaluate size and shipping requirements of the order
    • Complete Proforma and send to customer with pricing and freight
    • Coordinate order to Purchasing and highlight Special Order items
    • Book shipment with steamship lines
    • Send order requirements and dynamics to Export Specialist at the shipping distribution center
    • Coordinate loading of order with Export Specialist, drayage of containers, inspections, documents for shipping and payment instructions to customers
    • Review inventory on hand and work with sourcing specialist
    • Confirm collections and coordinate shipping documents with forwarding agent
    • Review final invoice for pricing confirmation
    • Invoice for freight and handling charges
    • Notify A/R how to apply payments received
    • Notify customers of item changes and manage vendor deducts/credits
  • Work with customer and sales team on new item pricing and requests
  • Participate in domestic customer meetings to keep informed of pending item changes
  • Communicate between export customer and domestic customer National Accounts Managers as needed




  • Fluent in at least one foreign language (reading, writing, speaking), preferably including dialects used in Latin America, China, Japan, Middle East or Europe
  • Experience and familiarity with cultures and countries outside the United States.
  • Experience working in food distribution  to foreign countries
  • Experience with or knowledge of restrictions on food imports to foreign countries
  • Experience working with food manufacturers or vendors and certification organizations.
  • Experience working with USDA regarding food exports from the U.S.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline.


  • Eligible to work in the United States without authorization.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation and drug test.
