Responsibilities

A Purchasing Specialist will have the full responsibility for managing all vendors/items that are assigned to them. 

The job of a Purchasing Specialist will include but is not limited to the following: 

  • Responsible for maintaining Service level goal minimums on the vendor / items purchased by the Purchasing Specialist.  
  • Responsible for maintaining the required DOH on the vendors / items purchases by the Purchasing Specialist.   
  • Work with Account Management to ensure that Service and EVA expectations are properly aligned with the customer. 
  • Update and maintain the vendors / items assigned to the Purchasing Specialist (in ERP and DPR) to achieve service level and inventory level goals.   
  • Work with GAMPAC to establish and manage business rules around lane activation and support, to optimize the profitability.  
  • Expedite orders and follow up on critical orders to ensure that redelivery expenses are minimized.  
  • Communication of vendor issues to appropriate National Account Specialist/Manager or purchasing contact, for a proactive resolution.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required. Associates degree or higher preferred.  
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications: Word, Excel and Outlook.  
  • Previous purchasing experience preferred.  
  • Knowledge of DPR (Evant) or similar buying systems preferred.  
  • Ability to act quickly and decisively in a fast paced, dynamic environment and be a catalyst for working collaboratively in a team oriented environment. 
  • Exceptional quantitative, analytical, planning and organizational skills.  
  • Must have successful work performance, demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively, work well with others, and exercise sound judgment and display initiative and innovation on the job.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation and drug test
