    Supervise and monitor the overall delivery function to ensure efficiency and maintain high level of service. Effectively utilize support resources to achieve objectives. Represent company in a professional manner at all times.

    Responsibilities

    • Supervise drivers with leadership and communication and develop teamwork among Operations Team. Promote teamwork between drivers, customer service and warehouse associates. 
    • Overlook and maintain driver’s weekly schedule, and make necessary adjustments to service our customers.
    • Supervise Transportation Department's day to day operations
    • Assist Transportation Manager with all aspects of routing, including holiday routing
    • Ensure all SSA drivers are Department of Transportation (DOT) qualified and knowledgeable in personal and driving safety
    • Observe safe work habits and coach to improve safety at all times; conduct safety observations.
    • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and Company policies/procedures by monitoring daily reporting and activities/duties of SSA drivers
    • Assist Transportation Manager and corporate team in addressing delivery concerns and maximizing route profitability
    • Coordinate/facilitate quarterly SSA drivers’ safety meetings in conjunction with Transportation Manager
    • Assist Transportation Manager in managing/monitoring all routes and route changes to ensure compliance with customer and DOT requirements
    • Manage equipment flow to ensure proper usage and availability
    • Ride with SSA drivers to conduct training and audits
    • Ensure transportation department safety by investigating all injuries & accidents and regularly auditing/updating Company safe work methods
    • Oversee all transportation department safety, policy/procedure, and compliance training
    • Work with vehicle leasing company to ensure routine equipment checks are performed as scheduled, as well as review over-the-road reports to minimize break-down time and customer impact

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language required
    • Current CDL preferred.
    • Two years on-the-job experience in a foodservice or related distribution environment managing associates required.
    • Two years managing a driver staff, fleet and customer issues preferred.
    • Computer experienced (excel, word, outlook) required
    • Experience in computerized routing systems, RoadNet experience preferred
    • Knowledge of current DOT regulations and state/local laws required
    • Ability to keep accurate and detailed records, meet deadlines and prepare schedules/reports
    • Professional demeanor
    • Well organized with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong leadership ability
    • Ability to work well with all levels of Company associates
    • High school diploma or equivalency required, College degree preferred.
    • Ability to pass a background investigation and drug test

    • Constant sitting for prolonged periods while performing desktop activities and/or traveling.
    • Constant use of both hands/arms simultaneously reaching/handling/grasping while performing desktop activities, handling paperwork.
    • Frequent bending at waist/knees to and from seated position.
    • Frequent squat/kneeling, walking, sitting, retrieving materials from lower areas.
    • Occasional lift/carrying typically less than 20 lbs., can be up to 50 lbs., normal office supplies, equipment, higher weights due to occasional emergency product deliveries to customers.
    • Constant use of sight, hearing and speech abilities in performance of essential job functions required.
    • Frequent contact with moving equipment.

    • Able to evaluate facts and figures.
    • Able to organize/prioritize and possess self-motivation to meet daily demands, fast pace, heavy volume.
    • Able to pay close attention to detail and deal with a variety of issues with constant interruptions.

    • Ability to handle difficult situations and problem solve.
    • Work stresses include meeting work schedules and constant interacting with drivers, warehouse team members, customer service, corporate staff, account managers and customers
    • Effective time management to meet work schedule and high service standards.
    • Multi-tasking skills with frequent interruptions.

    Work Conditions

    • Busy office environment, climate controlled.
    • Daily interaction with associates in all departments.
    • Normal driving hazards in all types of weather to and from customer locations
    • Able to handle switch in day/night schedules as required

     

    *Constantly over 80% time, Frequently 20-80% time, and Occasionally under 20% of time.
